Ark on the Edge is now a registered charity caring for any animal. To date we have never received donations to the amount that needed us to register but it is hoped that the plans we have will mean that this limit will be reached and surpassed.
It is a sanctuary for those animals which, for survival reasons, cannot be returned to their natural habitat.
We will endeavour to take in any animal needing our help or attention, BUT this is dependant on the room that we have at the time. PLEASE NOTE that we do not have kennelling facilities so we cannot take dogs in but the register that we keep hopes to rehome dogs directly from existing home to new home to avoid undue stress.
It is also a rescue and rehoming centre for any animal which comes into the centre. Where ever possible an animal is kept as part of the family, so it is in the house and joins in with all the others. This means that when it eventually gets a new home of its own it is used to all the husbandary that goes with the house keeping, so the washing machine, hoover etc.
Obviously some animals cannot be kept in the house but that doesn't mean they are less integrated with the family, and some cannot be integrated at all eg the birds of prey, as they need to be kept wild if they stand a chance of survival on their release.
At the moment the centre doesn't have specific opening times but if you would like to visit please ring. At the weekends there is generally someone around most of the time but ring before you set off if you want to make sure. If the future plans work out then the centre will be open most of the time.
